Teenage pregnancy affects the teenager in just about all facets of life. If the girl chooses to have the child and raise the child, the teen parents will have a lot of growing up to do in most cases. It will be more difficult for teen parents to complete high school and go to college. It will also change the teen parents’ dynamics with their parents. There are social impacts as well, as having a child can drastically change a teen parent’s social life. There are also the emotional and hormonal aspects of being pregnant and/or getting someone pregnant and the relationship of the teen parents. If the girl chooses to terminate the pregnancy or have an abortion, that is something that also can have lifelong effects on the teens emotionally and relationally. If the teen parents choose to have the child and give the child up for adoption, again, the emotional and social impact of such a decision can be lifelong. Negative effects can be mitigated with a good adult support system.
