Taking the best care of yourself possible while pregnant is the best way to ensure a healthy pregnancy. Eating a balanced diet (or as balanced as possible if you’re battling morning sickness) that includes lots of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as healthy fats and plenty of protein to provide the nutrients the baby needs to develop is a good place to start. Taking a prenatal vitamin with folate is a known way to help prevent some neural tube disorders in the baby. It’s important to get in to see a licensed care provider (doctor or midwife) right away as well. Keeping track of how you and the baby are doing and staying on top of any problems that could creep up is recommended as well.
