Treasure Treasure is a 16-year-old African American teen. She is smart, mature, and very insightful for her age. Treasure enjoys gymnastics, tumbling, and modeling. She also fashions herself as a writer and writes powerful poetry about her life experiences and future goals. She’s in the 11th grade and consistently works towards making good grades. Treasure advocates for herself, is honest about her feelings, and critically thinks about her life and the life she wants for her future. She has realistic expectations for herself, including being a part of a forever family and attending college. Treasure says that she presents as quiet when she first meets someone but is talkative once she knows you. She says, although she’s easy-going, caring, and honest, she can also be out spoking. When discussing her feelings about adoption, she’s open to all types of families and families from different races. Treasure stated if there were other children in the home, she would only prefer one if there were younger kids and up to two if older. She doesn't’t want to compete for anyone’s attention. Treasure wants an active family, people who love to cook, and would allow her to pick out healthy foods that she likes. With her insight, Treasure also indicated that she wants a family who is aware of her mental health, supportive, and willing to participate in therapy if needed. She wants what she describes as a family-oriented family and not to feel like a roommate but like she’s a part of the family. Treasure is excited about the possibility of being adopted and hopes that the right family is identified quickly.
