HUXLEY

from European Union

Huxley was born in November 2016 at 28 weeks gestation via C-Section. He spent the first five months of his life in the hospital receiving intensive interventions to survive. After his release from the hospital Huxley was placed into state care where he remains today. Huxley has been diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity, rickets, convergent strabismus, bronchial asthma, infantile cerebral palsy, microcephaly, and Chiari malformation of the brain. His development is delayed. Usually a calm and happy child, Huxley walks short distances independently, but also uses a walker as needed. He transfers objects between his hands and uses a pincer grasp. He seeks out toys and tries to play with them and strives to work with scissors and pencils. Huxley responds when called by name and recognizes himself in a mirror. He initiates interactions with peers and adults, showing preference for those familiar to him, and reacts positively to tactile and verbal stimuli. Huxley is often successful in imitating actions shown to him and struggles most with verbal imitation although he does babble. He uses social gestures, such as blowing kisses and waving goodbye, and can carry out 2 to 3 step instructions. Huxley is interested in his environment and a variety of activities, especially musical toys, dancing, and drawing. He’s working on potty-training and still requires some assistance with feeding. It does not appear that Huxley is receiving regular therapeutic interventions at this time. Huxley needs a devoted family who can provide the resources to help him reach his full potential. He will thrive in a loving forever home.
