Those who know Kyle best describe him as funny, kind and a great helper! Kyle has so
many varied interests that you’re sure to find something in common to connect with this
adventurous teen about! Spending time hiking; swimming; riding his bike; camping and
fishing are just a few of his favorite things to do.This athletic young man also likes to
work off his energy playing sports like football and basketball, and is really hoping to join
the school or a city recreational league team, once he gets settled into his permanent
home. Kyle is really looking forward to spending family time celebrating holidays, having
movie nights, playing video and board games together and travelling-hopefully to
Disneyland someday!
When asked to describe what attributes great parents for him would possess, Kyle
describes parents who are nurturing, patient, understanding, kind, respectful, loving and
who can commit to him through the good times as well as through the rough patches
that he is bound to have as he navigates life with a new family. Kyle has been working
diligently to move through his past hurts and is very determined and focused on
developing new, healthier coping mechanisms and communication skills.
Kyle’s permanency team is searching for adoptive parents who have, or are willing to
gain, a strong understanding of how exposure to childhood trauma impacts all areas of
a child’s life. Prospective adoptive parents with a very authoritarian parenting style, or
those who tend to power struggle, would not be a good fit for Kyle. Parents who offer
choices, do not keep score in their relationships, can begin each day with a new slate
and who are able to not personalize a child’s behavior would be a fantastic match for
him! Kyle will also benefit from parents who will be strong advocates for him
educationally.
Kyle would do well as an only child or with older siblings that he can look up to. Kyle
and his team are searching for adoptive parents that value the importance of
maintaining some of the important birth family relationships in his life. Kyle has infinite
potential and just needs the right family in order to have a bright future! If getting to
know a bit about this resilient teen has sparked your interest, we’d love to have you
