Amber from Texas

Amber is a fun-loving, independent spirit who almost always has a smile on her face. She likes to laugh, play outdoors, and watch movies. She is very playful and can play by herself, but enjoys the company of others. She is curious about everything and very spunky. She has a great attitude and spirit, as well as a neat personality. Amber is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and is nonverbal. She is learning signs and positive ways to communicate with others. Amber is receiving assistance at a non-traditional school where they are working on social growth issues and independent life skills. She receives occupational and speech therapy. The family for Amber will have an understanding of children with special needs, as well as the time, energy, and desire to raise a child with special needs. This family will need to provide Amber with a structured environment and a consistent daily routine, as change is difficult for her.
