Jose from Texas

Jose is very active youth who has lots of energy to burn! He is a curious child who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Jose is very strong in math and he does well in school, though he can be easily distracted. He likes to attend church, enjoys playing board games, watching movies, and studying after school. Jose likes to keep busy and keeping him occupied helps to prevent him from focusing on things that upset him. He loves to be surrounded by supportive people, but he also enjoys time alone to read and complete puzzles. Coloring and working on math problems are great methods to use when he needs time to calm down. Jose also responds well to talking about his frustrations and reminders to take a walk to cool off. Jose really likes to play baseball, loves basketball, and enjoys other outdoors activities and sports. He loves to listen to pop music and artists such as Britney Spears.

Jose will thrive in a family setting that provides him with plenty of structure and a consistent schedule. He will benefit from caregivers who are knowledgeable or willing to learn about Autism. His family will seek and continue therapeutic interventions. Jose's family will be proactive, understanding, and flexible. They will provide plenty of love, patience and necessary supervision. Jose will adjust better to a structured home that provides plenty of scheduled activities that keep him active and busy. Maintaining regular contact with his sibling, who is not a part of this adoption, is very important to him. He hopes to continue face to face visits when possible and he wishes to remain in Texas.
