Hoping to Adopt (Texas)

Letter

Nice to Meet You!

As you make a difficult decision for yourself and your child, we are honored to meet you, learn about your story, and share our story with you.

Hello!
Thank you for taking your time to meet us and to consider bringing us into your life. As you make a difficult decision for yourself and your child, we are honored to meet you, learn about your story, and share our story with you. As an older couple, we have known since dating that adoption was our path to building a family. We have friends and family who have adopted, as well as placed their child with an adopted family. While we have seen this experience firsthand, we cannot imagine how hard this will be for you. We offer our understanding, respect, and love during this difficult time to you, your family, and those in your support network. By adopting, we are welcoming not only a baby into our lives, but you to be a presence in their life, alongside us. We are excited to meet you soon.
Our Adoption Story

The love that it takes to raise a child doesn't always have to come from a biological connection.

This is us
We found out in 2017 that having a baby would introduce high risk medical complications for Alicia, a baby, or both. Knowing the emotional and physical toll that this would create, we openly turned to the idea of adoption.

The love that it takes to raise a child doesn't always have to come from a biological connection. We know that we have a tremendous amount of love to offer and we feel that we are in a very stable place in our lives to welcome a child.

We are thrilled at the idea of starting our own family - with a child. We currently have a wonderful fur family of two dogs and a cat. We have a small house with lots of love that we want to share with a child. We can imagine spending time on the porch while they play in the yard, walking the dogs in the neighborhood, reading books, teaching them to cook, and faithfully guiding them as they discover who they are.
How We Met

While it took us some time to find each other, we're glad we got married after establishing our careers and being happy with where we are in life.

Our Wedding
Both of us were working in Virginia in 2016 when we met. We were lucky to meet each other, since Alicia was already planning to move back to Texas and Drew was only in a temporary 1-year job. We met online through Match.com. On our profile pages, one common thing was that we both love our hometown basketball teams (San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks). So we knew on our first date that we would at least have one thing to talk about. We both arrived to the restaurant for our first date within 10 seconds of each other. And later we both admitted that we knew we would have a second date almost immediately after meeting.

After that, things moved very quickly. Our third date was a road trip to New York to meet friends. And Alicia met Drew's parents that first month we were dating! Over Christmas break, Drew came to Texas to meet Alicia's family. There were many up and downs that first year, as we figured out our next steps professionally and in life.

Drew came to Texas to join Alicia, surprising her by sending a photo from the road. What was a chance to give life in Texas a try became much more.

We've been together now for almost 7 years. While it took us some time to find each other, we're glad we got married after establishing our careers and being happy with where we are in life.

We got engaged in Colorado while on vacation. Drew surprised Alicia while we were skiing and taking a break in the middle of a ski run. We got married in April 2021. It was the happiest day of our lives. We were joined by a small group of 20 friends and family. We were married at our church in our neighborhood, and you can see us walking back home afterward where we had family gather on our porch for a toast.

We relied on so many people to help bring us together on our wedding day. Our neighbors did flower arrangements, two friends designed our invitations, and our best friends made sure everyone had fun that night and that their glasses were always full.
Our Promises

We promise as adoptive parents that we will do everything we can to provide your baby with a loving home where they can grow, learn, and always be themselves.
