My Aunt KK and Uncle Derek, who are also my Godparents, are the most incredible, humble and warm-hearted people I know. They treat me, my cousin and their other god children just like one of their own and have gone out of their way to show their love in many ways. They have taught me so many things in life, have helped me with things and always support me in everything I do. To say I’m thankful for them is an understatement, they are truly amazing people and for them to have a child of their own would be a blessing! When they told me the news of the approval for adoption I couldn’t have been more happy. For them to be able to adopt a child and give them a life some mothers can’t is something I know they would be more than happy to do. The life they want to give to a child is something truly special!

Kelly makes learning fun for each of her students, but teaches them all so much more than just the academics as she infuses lessons on character, kindness, respect, integrity, problem-solving, and so much more into their instruction every day. I’ve know Kelly and Derek for almost 14 years. I cannot remember a moment in mine and my kids lives that they haven’t been apart of. Kelly was my long term substitute when I had my second daughter. Not only did she take care of my babies at school, she drove to my house, brought dinner and held my baby. Her kindness and generosity is unmatched by anyone. When my mom died unexpectedly, Kelly and Derek drove straight home from a mini vacation and went to be our kids as we had to handle other things. They both provided love and comfort to my kids, my nieces and nephews in that difficult time. These two people always show up for others and I am so blessed that God put them in my life. My family considered Kelly and Derek family!

There are not enough words to describe how amazing Kelly and Derek would be to a child. I can honestly speak for all their friends when I say we would all trust them to raise our children. I have known Kelly for 30 years. We were college roommates and have been through a lot. She is by far the happiest and most caring person I know. I was one of those moms that wouldn’t just let anyone watch her babies…I mean that. When I saw Kelly with mine I knew she was special and my daughter who seem to hate every single person who walked in, ended up having a blast with Kelly. Derek is so much fun! That child would never have a boring moment doing all the fun things with him.

I can't begin to describe what a joy and privilege it is for me to write an adoption recommendation letter for Kelly and Derek. I grew up only a few blocks away from Kelly and her family, or as we called them “the Other Hamilton Girls”. We weren’t related but had the same last name and grew to be as close as sisters over the years. It takes a special person to enter your life and remain apart of it for over 40 years, and Kelly’s entire family are those people. Caring, loving, and would give anyone the shirt off their back even if was the last shirt they owned. I’ve known Derek for over 20 years, since he and Kelly started dating. From the moment I met him, I knew Kelly had found her “person”. He so clearly adores her (and her family) and has proven to be an amazing partner. I’ve loved watching his relationship with their niece, Payton, over the years. He’s such a loving and actively involved uncle, and I can only imagine the amazing father he’s going to be. Together, this couple is simply amazing. I can’t imagine a more loving, stable, caring, and fun household any child would be so lucky and blessed to be raised in.
