Rob & Beth

Hoping to Adopt (Michigan)

Letter

Hello

We are excited to share our lives with you.

The waterfront in Petoskey.
Hi! We're Rob, Beth, Javan, Parker and Braxton and we hope you will enjoy taking a peek into our lives. We know there is a right match for everyone. We hope it might be us, but we also believe that God has a plan for everything. We are excited to share our lives with you. We can't promise that we are the right match for you and your child, but we'd love to have you find out more about us. We trust you will see in us a bright and caring home!
Getting to know us

We have been blessed to be able to adopt all 3 of our boys.

The boys having fun.
Our marriage...
We met our freshman year in college on a blind date and got to know each other more in downhill ski class. Within a couple of months we were dating. We dated for 5 years when Rob finally popped the question and were engaged for a year. Our wedding day was sunny and beautiful and we had our reception in a tent at the waterfront. Our marriage is important to both of us. We feel blessed to have the friendship that we do. Rob has a flexible schedule and Beth works part-time so we are able to spend a lot of time together having fun, experiencing life, helping and serving people, raising our children and fulfilling our purpose.

Becoming parents...
About 5 years after we were married, we thought that it was time to start our family, but God had other plans for us. In his timing, He showed us the gift of adoption and we have been blessed to be able to adopt all three of our boys. We are praying that we will have the chance to adopt again and would like to balance out the "boy energy" in our family with a little girl.

Where we live...
We live in a small community just outside of Grand Rapids. We enjoy going to the city for dinner, museums, and events like Art Prize, but also appreciate the escape to our cozy home. Most people in our town know each other by name. We live on a quiet, dead end street and we love that we can walk to the school, library, post office, playgrounds, and ball field. We also love going up North to our cottage where we enjoy the beaches and boating, visiting Bay Harbor, shopping in downtown Petoskey and going to Pond Hill Farm. We also like exploring Mackinaw and Harbor Springs and spending time with family and friends cooking over the campfire or celebrating special occasions.

Family...
We are close to both of our families. Both of our parents have been married for over 50 years. They live within 20-30 minutes of us and enjoy being grandparents very much. Rob's mom spends the day at our house every Thursday and the boys enjoy taking turns spending the night at grandma and grandpa's. Beth's mom babysits quite often and the boys have a blast going fishing in their pond, riding on grandpa's tractor and going on a camping trip with Beth's parents each summer. Beth has two brothers who live close by. One is married and has three boys and the other one is married with a little girl. Rob has one sister who is married and lives in Idaho with her three children. We talk with her a lot by phone and email and we get to see them at least once a year as her husband is an airline pilot.
Who we are

We have decided that memories are more important than things.

Enjoying our favorite way to vacation.
Rob...
Rob works as a Realtor. He enjoys finding"good deals" for his clients whether they are an investor or someone purchasing their new home. In his free time, he likes finding restaurant & travel deals, going to lakes and beaches, staying healthy, remodeling homes and studying & learning about finances and the economy. The boys adore Rob and love to do everything that he does. We feel blessed that Rob's schedule is so flexible allowing him to spend countless hours being a father.

Beth...
Beth is a kind-hearted, laid back, sweet person. She spends her days keeping up with the boys and getting them where they need to go. She loves vacations, having lunch with her friends, planning party events, re-styling cottages, watching movies and going to the beach or pool. She is a veterinarian and especially enjoys working with senior cats. She works at the clinic on Tues, Thurs and one Sat each month.

Javan...
We were able to be at the hospital with Javan's birthmother when he was born. He came 6 weeks early so we moved across the state and took care of him in the NICU for 3 weeks before bringing him home. We have an open relationship with his birthmom and see her a few times each year. We also communicate through texts and facebook. Javan has a strong personality and likes to "run the show." He is currently in 1st grade and loves building things with his Legos, riding on his scooter, drawing, playing Minecraft and reading.

Parker...
Parker joined our family through foster care when he was not quite 3 years old. After 2 years of foster care, we were honored to be given the chance to adopt him. He loves life and lives it to the fullest! He has tons of energy and loves to run, swim, jump on the trampoline and do gymnastics. His favorite thing about kindergarten this year was all of the new friends he was able to make. We are happy to be able to have an open relationship with his birthmom, brothers and
grandparents.

Braxton...
Braxton is funny, sweet and laid back and loves Mickey Mouse and Thomas the Train. He spends most of his time trying to keep up with his brothers. His birth parents are from Iowa and allowed Beth to be in the delivery room with them when he was born. We love spending time with them and their families and communicate frequently
through texts and facebook.

Life together...
Our favorite thing to do together is travel and explore. We especially love Florida, the Caribbean and Hawaii. We have decided that memories are more important than things and we've been able to experience living in Hawaii for a month on two different occasions. When we're not traveling, we enjoy hanging out with friends, going on weekend trips to Chicago and Detroit, exploring towns and beaches along the coast of Michigan, playing at the splash pad or parks, riding our tandem bike and going to orchards, farmers markets & events. We also enjoy many activities at our church.
Our promise

Adoption is a miraculous gift that we will never take for granted.
