13 Years Together
Our Story

Family is our foundation!

We met in October of 2008 through a group of friends and had our first date on Halloween (now one of our favorite holidays to celebrate)! It didn’t take long before we knew we were meant to be together. We were married in the Dallas, Texas LDS Temple in August of 2009 and we have lived in the north Texas area for the past 13 years. We have been blessed to live close to our parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandparents on both sides of our family. It is uncommon that even one week goes by without a family “hang-out”. Family is our foundation!

Our desire to start our own family began early on in our marriage. After many years of trying to become pregnant, and countless prayers and careful pondering, we both felt inspired that adoption was the choice that God wanted us to make for our family. We feel overwhelmingly blessed to be on this journey for our future child.

Getting to know Tomas

Tomas is known for his happy, friendly, loving character and his service-oriented attitude.

Tomas
Tomas was born in Monterrey, Mexico and moved with his parents to the United States at two months old. Tomas also grew up in the north Texas area. He has one younger sister and two younger brothers, as well as many cousins who are as close as siblings.
Tomas comes from an athletic family and as a youth he played football, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. His parents actively cheered for him and his siblings at every sporting event and were their biggest fans. Tomas hopes to cheer for his future children as well!
A year after graduating high school, Tomas served a Spanish-speaking church mission in Salt Lake City, Utah for two years. While he served, he gained a deeper appreciation of the concept of family. As he was away from his family during that time, he learned to more completely love others as his own parents or siblings.
A few years ago, Tomas decided to leave his professional career in sales to pursue his education in a field that could bring more joy to those around him. With the support of his wife, he enrolled in school to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Tomas is excited to finish school and is looking forward to being able to help and support those he interacts with on a professional and personal level to strengthen family relationships.
Tomas is known for his happy, friendly, loving character and his service-oriented attitude. He is a true extrovert! Making others laugh, smile or find joy comes naturally to him and he is quick to make a new friend or lighten a room. As a husband, Tomas has loved Kara unconditionally and is longing to share that love with his children and teach them the importance of selfless service.
Getting to know Kara

She is a loyal friend and a peacemaker, full of love, and has a positive outlook and perspective on life.

Kara
Kara was born in Maryland and moved to north Texas at the age of two where she spent her childhood. She has two brothers; her middle brother is close in age and her youngest brother was adopted by Kara’s parents at the age of eight.
Kara has a love for the outdoors, and has many memories of adventures with family and friends during the summer breaks; riding bikes, rollerblading, exploring creeks, and building forts. As a child, she had many pets most of which were found by the creek and brought home to be loved! She still very much enjoys camping and hiking and takes time to appreciate those moments with her family when they can. This is a tradition she hopes to continue with her family and children for many years to come.
After graduating with her nursing degree, Kara spent almost 4 years in a doctor office before taking a different position with a network of doctors where she has worked for over 7 years and advanced to a director position. She enjoys working with her team and supporting the community, but is looking forward with much joy to her new role as “mom”. One of the great things about her career choice is that it has given her the flexibility to put family first and she very much enjoys working from home with the company of her husband.
Kara is known for her sweet and kind personality. She is compassionate and encourages those around her. She is a loyal friend and a peacemaker, full of love, and has a positive outlook and perspective on life. Being a mother has been a lifelong dream. She is filled with enthusiasm and humbled by the privilege of nurturing and raising a child.
